Débora Traverso

Débora was born and raised in the countryside of southern Brazil, was always an active child, and by the age of 3 was taken to a very first dance class by her mother. It was later around the age of 14 that she came to discover the world of Hatha Yoga, at a studio right next to her high school. After entering that world, everything else started to be seen from a much different perspective in her life, since yoga was such a direct and constant part of it.

With time, it was as if Yoga had always been in her heart, breath work synchronized with movement fascinated her to such a degree that it took her to the path of the Ashtanga Yoga Practice. It was when she came to the US some years after that she came to meet her beloved teacher Tim Feldmann, who teaches the method in Miami and has been practicing for more than 20 years.

To her, Ashtanga Yoga is mainly meditation in movement, when we’re able to willfully keep our attention attached to one thing only for a certain period of time, and that’s what Patanjali calls concentration in the Yoga Sutras. As you begin to recognize your mind patterns, you get closer to the subtleness of the practice.
